James Callis was married to Neha Callis before the turn of the century. But he almost didn’t end up with her. The Blood and Tressure actor was always aware that he had a good relationship with her. But he quickly realized that he didn’t just want to be friends with her. He wanted more and fortunately for him, so did she.
James Callis almost missed getting closer to his wife
Callis’ realization that Neha was the one began with another woman he met in college, not her. He shared in an article for Cosmopolitan (via jamescallis.tripod.com) how he understood the difference between being friends with a woman and wanting a relationship with a woman. During his first week at university, he met a “very beautiful, humorous and charming girl” (he graduated from the University of York in 1993). She had a boyfriend, but he never stopped pursuing her.
After chasing her for weeks, they finally ended up in her room. But just as things were getting started, he suddenly stopped.
“Something inside me froze. It didn’t seem right. “He scribbled something. “We were great friends and she was beautiful, but not in the way a lover should be.”
The female also agreed with him. And on this occasion he realized that a man and a woman can easily be friends, although sexual intimacy and personal friendship have many similarities. With this insight, he quickly realized that things were different with Neha, even though their relationship originally had many of the characteristics of a close friendship. He explained: “She was great, easy to talk to and even easier to laugh with – she had everything that makes a fantastic relationship.” As he stated earlier in his article, “Most men know deep down, from the first meeting, whether a platonic relationship goes as far as they want it to.” And he didn’t want his relationship with Neha remains platonic.
“I had this overwhelming feeling that if I didn’t ask him out right away, I would regret it for the rest of my life,” Callis continued. “I didn’t want to become ‘friends’ and risk losing the possibility of a romantic relationship between us.”
So he decided to tell her exactly how he felt. “Luckily, she shared my opinion,” he wrote.

On December 30, 1998, Callis married Neha (full name: Neha Datar). She is said to come from India or to have Indian ancestors. The couple are parents of three children: two boys and a girl. According to his birthday post for Joshua on Instagram, their first child, Joshua Amaan Callis, was born in late 2003, probably around October 2003.

Their second child, Sacha Callis, was born on August 13, 2005. In 2009, they had their youngest child, Anika Jahan Callis. Callis and his wife keep their family life very private: Callis doesn’t post much about her children and Neha keeps her Instagram private.
