Sam Witwer has become an icon of the Star Wars universe. Fans love him for his participation in the Star Wars franchise as Starkiller in The Force Unleashed and Darth Maul in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. In addition to his voice work on these iconic characters, he frequently voices or stars in live-action television series.

Many of us now expect him to appear on every Star Wars-themed TV show. It’s nice to see Sam involved in some capacity in Star Wars, whether he’s providing additional voices or wearing prosthetics as a background Rhodian.

With the announcement of the Ahsoka series, fans immediately began looking for roles for Sam Witwer and other fan favorites such as Ashley Eckstein in this Disney+ series. Unfortunately, Ashley won’t be featured in Season 1. We’re still hoping she’ll make at least one appearance in Season 2.

And Sam Witwer?

It was unclear if Sam Witwer was involved in the Ahsoka initiative. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about what characters he might play. A popular idea was for Sam to take on the role of Galen Marek, Starkiller, from The Force Unleashed video game series, but as Inquisitor Marrok.

Simple game of letters and names; it’s understandable why fans would consider this a possibility. Coupled with the large veil of mystery surrounding Marrok’s identity, there was enough room for Sam to find a place in the Ahsoka series.

Sam was recently interviewed during a live stream about his involvement with Ahsoka, and he had the following to say:

In fairness, this admission from Sam has two implications for fans:

  • We’re thrilled to learn that Sam Witwer IS a member of the Ahsoka cast.
  • We’re back to square one, because we’re not sure of his involvement.

We therefore return to speculating about its identity and function. Sam is neither credited nor uncredited for the Ahsoka series on IMDb. It’s possible that IMDb’s listings are inaccurate, which isn’t beyond the realm of possibility, or that Sam’s involvement hasn’t been publicized yet, leading to further speculation.

What role will Sam play? Is he one of the additional voices? Will he reprise his role as the peripheral Rhodian from the Book of Boba Fett? Only time will tell. Sam only reveals that he interacted with Ahsoka, but not to what extent. So while we eagerly await a new episode, we can continue to speculate about its appearance and characters.
