The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Roberson 26th in the 2013 NBA Draft, but the Oklahoma City Thunder ultimately secured him on draft night.
He joined the Thunder on July 12 after a strong performance in Summer League. During his freshman season, he served numerous assignments with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.
Roberson returned to the Thunder in July 2014, just in time for the NBA Summer League. Roberson’s rookie contract with the Thunder was extended through the 2015–16 season on October 22, 2014, when the Thunder activated his third-year team option.

Roberson re-signed with the Thunder on July 14, 2017 for a three-year, $30 million contract. Roberson tore his left patellar tendon on January 27 against the Detroit Pistons after missing eight games with left patellar tendonitis in January 2018.
He underwent surgery the following day and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. On October 4, 2018, Roberson underwent surgery after suffering a setback while recovering from left knee surgery, which caused him to miss two additional months.
After an awkward landing from a jump in late November, an MRI showed Roberson had broken his kneecap in a minor avulsion. He was then declared banned for at least six more weeks.
Roberson appeared in his first NBA game in over two years on August 1, 2020, playing five minutes in a 110-94 victory against the Utah Jazz.
Roberson signed with the Brooklyn Nets on February 16, 2021. Before being released by the Nets on February 23, he played in two games for them.
Roberson and the Nets agreed to a 10-day contract on February 26. On February 1, 2023, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G League affiliate.
