Hammer is an American actor. He began his acting career by making appearances in several television series.
In Billy: The Early Years in 2008, he played Billy Graham. In 2010, he played Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in the David Fincher biographical drama The Social Network, for which he won the Toronto Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor. This role earned him his first leading role.
Hammer played Clyde Tolson in the 2011 biopic J. Edgar, the title role of The Lone Ranger in the 2013 western, and Illya Kuryakin in the 2015 action film The Man from UNCLE.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said Hammer has a pending case with the LAPD and is looking into sexual assault allegations made against him in April 2023.
