American football quarterback Cameron Jerrell Newton was born on May 11, 1989, in Atlanta, United States of America.

He is the younger brother of Cecil Newton and the son of Jackie and Cecil Newton Sr. His youngest brother, Caylin, played quarterback for the Howard Bison in the mid-2010s.

When he was younger, Newton was a talented basketball and baseball player, but in baseball he developed a phobia of being hit by a pitch and had difficulty avoiding fouls on the field.

He gave up basketball early in his high school career and baseball at age 14. Newton graduated from Auburn University in 2015 with a degree in sociology.

He has 11 seasons of playing experience, primarily with the Carolina Panthers (NFL) of the National Football League. He ranks second in quarterback rushing yards and first in quarterback rushing touchdowns in the NFL.

Before attending Auburn, Newton played college football for Florida. As a junior, Newton won the Heisman Trophy and the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. The Panthers made him their first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
