Brian Walsh was known for his diverse media career, including as a talented publicist in media, entertainment and sport, and for his leading role in many iconic moments on Australian television.

He is credited with the worldwide success of Neighbours, including launching the careers of actors Kylie Minogue, Jason Donocan and Guy Pearce.

Walsh has also been the driving force behind several Australian television shows, including Neighbours, A Place to Call Home, Wentworth and Colin from Accounts.

In the 1990s he was also responsible for the Australian Rugby League’s legendary ‘Simply The Best’ marketing campaign with singer Tina Turner.

In a long career spanning almost five decades, Walsh has held senior roles at Ten Network, Sky Broadcasting in the UK, Sky TV in Asia and Foxtel in Australia.

Later joining the Ten Network, he was instrumental in the network’s decision in 1985 to take over Neighbors after it was dropped by rival channel Seven.

In 1995, Walsh joined Foxtel, where he helped establish subscription television in Australia.

He most recently served as an executive at Foxtel, overseeing the development of original drama series.

Over the past two decades he has overseen scripts and scripts for the Foxtel Group, including Wentworth, Upright, Love Me, Colin from Accounts and The Twelve.

Well, Brian Walsh is dead. He died on Thursday March 16, 2023 in Sydney, aged 67. However, the cause of his death has not yet been revealed.
