Chris Bianco was born in 1960 in the Bronx, New York. He grew up in Ossining, New York. Asthma caused Chris’ health problems when he was a teenager. Because of his asthma, he prefers to stay at home. At home, his aunt taught him to cook. Chris Bianco started his first job at a neighborhood pizzeria when he was 13 years old. He then dropped out of high school and started learning how to make pizza. He learned to make mozzarella cheese at Mike’s Deli in the Bronx.

Career
Chris’s life changed when he moved to Phoenix and started delivering mozzarella cheese to a pizzeria. He had the opportunity to learn about the catering profession before attempting to make a pizza in a wood-fired pizza oven. Cosco, a catering event attendee, noticed him making pizza in a wood-fired oven and reserved a small space in the corner of his store to sell and bake pizza. He began selling margherita, marinara and an exclusive pizza to customers at the local grocery store. His pizza quickly became known throughout the city. Then, in 1988, he had the idea of improving his skills as a pizza maker into a well-paying full-time job.
Chris Bianco then worked tirelessly to save money to fly to Italy and perfect his pizza-making skills. Eventually, he flew to Italy to study for six months. Upon returning to the United States, he settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico and worked in an Italian restaurant for three years. In 1994, he returned to Phoenix and opened his own Pizzeria Bianco in the Town & Country shopping center.
After the success of Pizzeria Bianco, he founded Bar Bianco in 1997. He then continued his work successfully. In 2003, he received the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in the Southwest. Then, in 2005, he created a new company called pane bianco. It’s a lunch and sandwich shop on Central Avenue, about four miles from Pizzeria Bianco. Due to her asthma, doctors recommended she stop cooking in 2010. The oven and flour made it difficult for her to breathe. The pizza preparation process is then taken over by Chris’ brother, Marco Bianco.
