Daisy Ridley, English child actress, Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley was born on April 10, 1992 in the London borough of Westminster, England.

“Matilda” (1996), starring Mara Wilson in the title role, was Ridley’s favorite film as a child, she said, citing Wilson as a role model.

Although she wasn’t a huge Star Wars fan as a child, she was a die-hard lover of the Harry Potter books. Between the ages of nine and eighteen, Ridley attended Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in Hertfordshire on a scholarship.

She continued her studies in classical civilization at Birkbeck University in London before dropping out to concentrate on her acting career.

Daisy Ridley’s career

Ridley made her acting debut in small roles in the television series Youngers, Toast of London, Silent Witness, Mr. Selfridge and Casualty. She appeared in the short film Blue Season, which entered the Sci-Fi London 48-Hour Film Challenge.

Ridley was cast in April 2014 as Rey, one of the main protagonists in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Before the film’s release in December 2015, Ridley appeared at the launch of a series of Star Wars stamps issued by the British postal service Royal Mail.

His character Rey and the droid BB-8 appear on a postage stamp. Ridley began filming his scenes at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire in May 2014.
