He is one of the three founding members of the rap group The Fat Boys, formed in the early 1980s. He forms a duo with rappers Darren Robinson (Buff Love) and Mark Anthony Morales (Prince Markie Dee). They were formerly known as The Disco 3 until they changed their name to The Fat Boys in 1983. The group was formed in 1982, disbanded in 1991, and relaunched in 2008. The hip hop group acquired national prominence after winning a talent competition, Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Mr. Magic of the radio show Rap Attack in 1983. The members of The Fat Boys, then known as The Disco 3, were unexpected winners with their song “Stick ‘Em.” It was his first foray into mainstream hip-hop. They were also among the first rappers to introduce beatboxing to rap music. Additionally, this trio was one of the first to release full albums of rap songs.
Prince Markie Dee left the group in 1990 to pursue solo activities, including producing many early songs for Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige.
