Darrell Edward Brooks is a 40-year-old man charged with six counts of first-degree premeditated murder and 70 additional counts in connection with the Waukesha Christmas Parade on November 21, 2021.

This happened after he drove his SUV into a crowd of Christmas parade participants in Waukesha, Wisconsin, last November, killing about six people and injuring dozens of participants.

After hearing two days of passionate testimony from the victims and their families, Judge Jennifer Dorow on Wednesday sentenced Brooks to life in prison without any chance of parole on each of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon.

Dorow on Wednesday imposed sentences on Brooks that total hundreds of additional years in prison for the other 70 counts he was convicted of last month, in addition to six consecutive life sentences for first-degree intentional homicide .

She sentenced Brooks to 17.5 years in prison for each of 61 counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a deadly weapon.

Darrell Brooks, also known by the stage name MathBoi Fly, is a black American rapper. He is believed to be the son of Dawn Woods and is 150 pounds and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has also lived in Peoria, Illinois, Richmond, California, Sparks, Nevada and Reno, Nevada. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was born and raised in the United States.

Six people were killed and hundreds more injured when Darrell Edward Brooks drove through a Christmas parade in 2021. On Wednesday, a jury found him responsible for the tragedy and convicted him of numerous crimes.

The panel deliberated for two hours Tuesday before reconvening Wednesday morning. It took the jury just over three hours to find Brooks responsible for the attack on all 76 counts against him.

Added to these charges were six counts of first-degree intentional homicide, each punishable by life in prison. Brooks lowered his head to his forehead, buried his face in his hands and looked down as the decision was read.

On November 21, 2021, Brooks’ red Ford Blazer SUV crashed into the Christmas parade procession, killing at least six people and injuring at least 61 others. Police and others responded to help the injured along a four-block stretch and at the same time began searching for the driver.

Before the verdicts were announced, people dressed in blue Waukesha Strong sweatshirts gathered outside the courtroom with bowed heads and silent prayers.

Waukesha County District Judge Jennifer Dorow scheduled a hearing Monday to decide whether to set a sentencing date, and she said she would allow victims to submit their statements via Zoom. However, Judge Jennifer Dorow sentenced Brooks to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, for each of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon.
