Larry Nassar’s Daughters: Meet Katelyn and Caroline: Larry Nassar, officially known as Lawrence Gerard Nassar, was born on August 16, 1963.
Born in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Nassar is a convicted serial child molester and former United States sports doctor.
A sports and gymnastics physician, Nassar served as the United States Women’s National Gymnastics Team physician for over a decade (18 years).
However, he used his position to exploit, deceive and sexually assault hundreds of children and young women.
His sexual abuse of young girls and women and the subsequent cover-up led to the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal, which began in 2015.
The sex abuse scandal alleged that Nassar sexually abused at least 265 young women and girls under the guise of medical treatment.
His victims included several gymnasts from the Olympic and U.S. women’s national gymnastics teams, according to the findings.
After pleading guilty to child pornography and tampering with evidence on July 11, 2017, Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison on December 7, 2017.
On January 24, 2018, he was sentenced to an additional 40 to 175 years in Michigan State Prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of sexual assault in Ingham County.
On February 5, 2018, he was sentenced to an additional 40 to 125 years in Michigan State Prison after pleading guilty to three counts of sexual assault in Eaton County.
By order of the judge in the federal case, his federal prison terms are to run consecutively to his federal sentence, ensuring a sentence of life in prison without parole.
If he is released from federal prison after serving his sentence, he will be transferred to a Michigan state prison to serve both state sentences concurrently.
In July 2023, the former USA Gymnastics doctor and convicted child molester made headlines after he was stabbed multiple times in a federal prison.
Nassar was stabbed to death in federal prison, where he is serving hundreds of years for sexually assaulting gymnasts, including Olympic gold medalists.
The attack reportedly took place on Sunday, July 9, 2023, during an altercation with another inmate at the U.S. Prison in Coleman.
Nassar was reportedly stabbed in the back and chest, but his condition was reported to be stable at the time of writing (Monday July 10, 2023).
