He developed a passion for bodybuilding at a young age and began lifting weights at the age of fifteen (15) to increase his size for boxing.
Due to his seriousness in weightlifting, Badell gained muscle incredibly quickly and entered his first bodybuilding competition at age 19.
He eventually won his first bodybuilding competition, the 1991 Caribbean Junior Bodybuilding Championships.
After six years of strength training, he finally turned professional and won the Caribbean Championships in 1997.
His first appearance in the International Federation of Bodybuilders was in 1998 when he competed in the German Grand Prix.
Badell competed at the International Federation of BodyBuilders Night of Champions in 1999, where he placed 14th.
He has also participated in several competitions including; Ironman Pro Invitational, Mr. Olympia and Arnold Classic. He has appeared in numerous fitness articles and magazines.
Badell has also appeared in numerous advertisements for MuscleTech, usually for Nitrotech Hardcore protein powder and Masstech weight gain powder.
He was a member of the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilders) and can look back on a long list of successes throughout his professional career.
Unfortunately, the star bodybuilder had passed away. Gustavo Badell died on Friday July 30, 2023, at the age of 50. The bodybuilder reportedly suffered from kidney problems and died following a stroke.
The damn Rican was one of the most respected bodybuilders and his death left the bodybuilding community with an irreplaceable loss.
