Levy Fraser was born on March 16, 1933 in New York, New York. She was the daughter of Nissim Levy and Victoria “Dora” Samarel Levy. She and her family spent most of their childhood in New York. Dodie also has two older siblings, Mary Levy Rugraffe (born 1926) and Solomon Isaac “Solly” Levy (born 1930). The eldest Maria died in 1989.
