E Jean Carroll Biography, Husband, Children, Siblings, Net Worth: Born December 12, 1943, E Jean Carroll, formerly known as Elizabeth Jean Carroll, is an American journalist, author, and columnist.

She attended Indiana University, where she was crowned Miss Indiana University in 1963, and in 1964, representing the university, she won the title of Miss Cheerleader USA.

Her column “Ask E. Jean” appeared in Elle magazine from 1993 to 2019 and became one of the longest-running advice columns in American publishing.

Carroll has written several magazines, books and anthologies. In her 2019 book “Do We Need Men For?: A Modest Proposal,” she accused Les Moonves and Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s.

However, Moonves and Mr. Trump have denied the allegations. Carroll then sued Trump in New York Supreme Court for defamation and assault.

In November 2019, Carroll filed a defamation suit in New York Supreme Court. The lawsuit alleges that Mr. Trump damaged her reputation, caused her significant professional harm and caused her emotional pain.

Carroll explained: “Decades ago, the current president of the United States raped me. When I had the courage to speak out about the attack, he defamed my character, accused me of lying for personal gain, and even insulted my appearance.

In November 2022, Carroll sued Mr. Trump for assault in New York under the Adult Survivors Act, a law passed last May that briefly allows victims of sexual assault to file civil lawsuits regardless of statutes of limitations expired.

On April 13, 2023, Carroll announced that part of his legal fees were being funded by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, venture capitalist and Democratic Party donor.

In May 2023, Carroll made headlines when a jury of six men and three women found Donald Trump responsible for sexual assault (but not rape), assault, and defamation against Carroll.

On the issue of rape, the jury found that Carroll had not established, based on the preponderance of the evidence, that the former president had raped her.

However, the jury concluded that Carroll had proven that Trump had sexually assaulted her. American journalist, author and columnist Carroll was awarded $5 million in damages.

The Manhattan jury ordered Mr Trump to pay him around $5m (£4m) in damages. The jury made up of six men and three women rendered its decision after deliberating less than three hours on Tuesday May 9, 2023.

Because the trial took place in civil court rather than criminal court, Mr. Trump is not required to register as a sex offender. The former president, who has denied Ms. Carroll’s allegations, did not attend the two-week civil trial in Manhattan federal court.
