The British singer, pianist, composer and philanthropist Elton John was born on March 25, 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex, United Kingdom.
His birth name is Reginald Kenneth Dwight and he is the eldest son of Stanley Dwight and Sheila Eileen. Both parents died in 1991 and 2017 respectively.
His maternal grandparents raised him in a townhouse in Pinner. Before leaving Pinner County Grammar School at the age of 17 to pursue a career in music, he attended Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School and Pinner County Grammar School.
As John began to truly pursue a future in music, his father, a former Royal Air Force pilot, tried to steer him toward a more traditional pursuit like finance.
After such a limited journey, John said his incredible theater performances and costumes were a way for him to let go. His father was a trumpeter in the Bob Millar Band, a semi-professional big band that performed at military events, and both his parents had a passion for music.
