The late Myrna Maria Ruiz was a retired teacher married to Floyd Joseph Malveaux, a physician who became dean of the Howard University School of Medicine. Myrna Maria Ruiz was the mother of CNN correspondent Suzanne Malveaux, who died after an illness in 2018.

She joined the University of Colorado Law School in 2018 as a senior professor of civil rights law.

Courtney Malveaux is the manager of the Richmond, Virginia office of Jackson Lewis PC. His practice focuses on representing employers in investigations and citations conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other regulatory agencies, often following catastrophic incidents. He also served as an assistant attorney, associate solicitor general, assistant attorney general, and special assistant to six Virginia attorneys general.

Gregory Malveaux is a professor of English at Montgomery College and has served as study abroad coordinator and director of international education in higher education for over a decade and a half, as well as co-chair of the Maryland Community College International Education Consortium .
