Born in the poor town of Sobrália, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Teixeira moved to Connecticut when he was just 20 years old to support his family. He worked in landscaping. It was only then that Teixeira was impressed by fighters like Mike Tyson, Royce Gracie and Chuck Liddell. Then he got serious about mixed martial arts, and here he is, impeccable at 41 years old. Glover Texeira met his wife Ingrid Peterson when he moved to Connecticut in 1999 to support his family. The couple had their first meeting at a gym. Teixeira had illegally immigrated to the United States after the UFC purchased the WEC – the promotion Texeira was involved in at the time, and visa rules and regulations became stricter (after the 9/11 attacks ).
