After her layoff, she continued blogging and eventually found success in the 2000s documenting the ups and downs of motherhood on her blog site Dooce.
His firing and the reasons behind it sparked a public debate about privacy – and increased traffic to his blog.
At the height of its popularity, Dooce received more than eight million visitors per month and reportedly earned more than $100,000 per year from banner ads on Dooce.
In 2009, Armstrong was named one of Forbes’ Most Influential Women, the same year she published her memoir, It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I Had a Baby, a Breakdown and a Much Needed Margarita.
Although she took some breaks from blogging, she returned to blogging full-time in 2017, leaving her family behind to focus on discussing mental health.
She was one of the first and most popular “mom bloggers” to write openly about her children, her relationships, and her struggles with alcohol and depression.
Unfortunately, the mom blogger passed away. Heather Armstrong died on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Her death was announced on Instagram on Wednesday, May 20.

Armstrong committed suicide after a recent relapse following 18 months of sobriety, her boyfriend Pete Ashdown revealed in an interview, saying he found her (Armstrong) in his Salt Lake City home on Tuesday evening.
A fluent and frank writer, she has long chronicled her struggles with severe depression and alcoholism. She was recently criticized for spreading anti-trans sentiments on her blog dooce.com.
