Husband of Katie Hobbs: Who is Patrick Goodman – On March 8, 2017, Hobbs declared his candidacy for Secretary of State of Arizona. The Associated Press prematurely announced Gaynor’s candidacy on November 6, 2018.

Given the intensity of the race, neither Hobbs nor Gaynor initially announced victory. Over the next few days, more votes were counted and Gaynor’s lead narrowed. Hobbs was declared the winner on November 16 by a margin of 20,000 votes.

Hobbs, who was selected to serve in the Arizona House of Representatives in 2010, credits Emerge Arizona with sparking her interest in politics.

She decided to run for office because she felt the government was not paying attention to the people she was helping in her role as a social worker. She is committed to eliminating domestic violence.

In the Arizona Senate, where she was elected twice in 2012, Hobbs served as minority party leader.

Talonya Adams, a Black Senate member, complained to Hobbs about racial discrimination during her first term as minority leader in 2015, after which Hobbs ultimately partially fired her.

After his firing in November 2021, Adams filed a discrimination lawsuit which was later settled for $2.75 million.

She declared her intention to run for governor of Arizona in the 2022 general election in October 2020. Governor Doug Ducey’s term is soon coming to an end. She won the Democratic nomination against Marco A. Lopez Jr. although she skipped the debate.

To prevent Kari Lake from using the discussion to commit further election fraud, Hobbs decided not to engage in debate with her. Hobbs defeated Lake and won.

Hobbs said the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security told him that Dominion Voting Systems would have to recertify the voting machines for future use because it could not determine whether they had been compromised after the county handed them over in response to the Senate summons.

While the preloaded machines were in the custody of the Arizona Senate contractor, the county spent more than $20,000 to rent additional machines to conduct two local elections; the cost of recertifying the returned machines after their return is reportedly in the six figures.
