Disney+ is currently offering the fifth new episode of the second season of I Am Groot, in which baby Groot embarks on absurd adventures. Despite the fact that the entire season only lasts around twenty minutes, Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts will undoubtedly appreciate the many undiscovered intricacies.
A small allusion to Eternals, the 2021 film that introduced a new group of heroes to the series, is an example of an Easter egg. In “Groot’s Sweet Treat”, the fourth I Am Groot short, Groot comes across a glacier filled with fascinating alternatives. Closer inspection reveals that one of the candies resembles Arishem.
Just in case you forgot, the Celestial Prime responsible for regulating the genesis of life on Earth is Arishem the Judge. The Deviants on Earth were also created as a means to his goal, and he created the Eternals to combat them. Below you can see a photo of Arishem from Eternals next to his ice cream cone from I Am Groot:
Was James Gunn involved in the production of I Am Groot?
The three Guardians of the Galaxy films are James Gunn’s best-known works, although most fans know that he currently runs DC Studios and that his tenure at Marvel has ended. “I think he had a lot of confidence in us, especially after season 1.
Kirsten Lepore, who previously discussed the upcoming season and Gunn’s involvement at ComicBook.com, helmed the second season of I Am Groot. The second season of I Am Groot was not created by Gunn, but he gave his approval.
James gave us a thumbs up, so I took that as his approval and thought, “Okay, we have our rhythm, we do our thing.” “I think we’re ready for Season 2,” Lepore remarked. “He created this character, so his DNA and fingerprints are still there.”

Will Eternals 2 happen?
An Eternals 2 is rumored to be in development, but Marvel has not released an official statement on the matter. There have been a few oblique allusions to Kumail Nanjiani’s character Kingo in other works since Eternals’ release. He appeared on a poster in Los Angeles for the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special and was mentioned in Ms. Marvel the year before.
In an interview with Total Film earlier this year, Nanjiani said he wasn’t sure what his future with Marvel would hold (via Games Radar). Although it’s hard to believe Marvel stars these days, Nanjiani seems to be honest with the publication.
Indeed! Look, I have things planned for today. Asked about Kingo’s return, Nanjiani said: “I don’t know if they have any plans.” “I would love to come back. However, I’m waiting to hear if and when that happens.

My goal is to be able to do more. I really enjoyed playing this character. We’d be sad if he was more of a punctual guy. But as you can see, it’s not me who makes the decision. Disney+ offers I Am Groot in streaming.
