After years of hard work, Drew McIntyre has become one of WWE’s most recognizable stars. He is WWE’s first babyface since 2020 and his in-ring performance has been praised by everyone. The Scottish warrior decided a few months ago to add an intriguing touch to his on-screen identity: his warrior sword. The massive blade has been a staple of his character ever since.
What does his sword symbolize?

Drew McIntyre has revealed that the sword he carried during his WWE appearance was dedicated to his late mother. Throughout 2021, McIntyre’s WWE persona has emphasized his Scottish origins, with the former WWE Champion wearing plaid and Vince McMahon recommending he enter the arena with a sword.
Angela McIntyre, the Scot’s mother, died in 2012 and encouraged McIntyre never to give up on his research. Thanks to the name of the sword, McIntyre’s mother is now with him every time he steps into a WWE ring.
Is Drew McIntyre’s sword real?
Yes, it certainly does. In the previous edition of Smack down, which premiered on December 10, 2021, the sharpness of the sword was on full display. During a backstage session, the former world champion hit WWE official Adam Pearce’s table with his sword.
Drew McIntyre also used his sword to scare his rivals. On a recent episode of Smackdown, he shocked everyone in the ring when he smashed the sword in the ring, delaying a battle royal.
The Story Behind Drew McIntyre’s Sword
The sword McIntyre uses on television is actually on loan to WWE from the Scottish History Museum in Inverness, a village on the eastern edge of deep Lake Nessie in the Scottish Highlands.
The sword is believed to be 1,500 years old and was carried by missionaries accompanying Saint Columba, who in 565 AD was the first person to record seeing a strange monster in the lake.
The sword was apparently used to repel the serpent when it entered the men’s boat, despite McIntyre’s exaggerated Genesis account. One of the monster’s teeth, seven inches long, is now implanted into the blade of McIntyre’s sword.
“A lot of us are huge, fit and maybe a little gorgeous,” McIntyre remarked on the Pat McAfee Show, “but you want something that’s off the beaten path to be different.” “I’m Scottish, so why not do it?” “Infect the Scottish side,” I suggested.
In 2017, the blade was taken to a lab for analysis and researchers determined that the tooth belonged to a plesiosaur, an aquatic dinosaur that is believed to have gone extinct millions of years ago, but survived in the murky depths of the Lake Scotland.
The sword McIntyre used isn’t the first WWE artifact associated with mythical animals. Giant Gonzalez’s fluffy piece was made from a real Sasquatch scalp.
