She developed a passion for journalism at a young age and remained consistent throughout her career, becoming one of the most sought-after sports journalists.

Hill began her career as a general sports reporter for the Raleigh News & Observer and later worked for the Detroit Free Press as well as the Orlando Sentinel.

While at the Detroit Free Press, she worked as a sports editor, primarily covering Michigan State football and basketball. She also covered the 2004 Summer Olympics and the NBA playoffs.

Hill joined ESPN in November 2006 as a national columnist and later served in various roles until she succeeded Jalen Rose as host of ESPN2’s “Numbers Never Lie” in 2013.

At ESPN, she appeared regularly on television, including SportsCenter and several ESPN programs such as ESPN First Take, Outside the Lines and The Sports Reporters.

Hill is co-founder of the film and production company Lodge Freeway Media and released her autobiography Uphill: A Memoir in 2022.
