Jeon Somi’s Parents: Meet Matthew Douma and Jeon Sunhee – Ennik and her parents moved to Yeonhui-dong, Seoul when she was six months old due to her mother’s homesickness. His father had lived in the area while studying taekwondo before returning to Canada.

She began her training at a school for foreigners before transferring to Seoul Midong Elementary School to learn taekwondo. She said she was bullied and discriminated against at school because of her mixed ethnicity and wanted to dye her hair black and have surgery to become more inappropriate.
She completed her primary education in 2013, then attended Cheongdam Middle School and graduated on February 3, 2017.

The same year, she sang and appeared in a music video for an English class. Jeon left JYP Entertainment on August 20, 2018, ending his contract with the agency after a formal discussion and mutual agreement.
The following month, she signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment’s independent subsidiary The Black Label, home to South Korean R&B singer Zion.
Jeon revealed that she joined the label shortly after meeting CEO Teddy Park, citing her authenticity and sense of contentment as reasons while imagining his future plans for her.
Additionally, Jeon believed that The Black Label would help him and allow him to focus on developing himself as an artist and as a person, which aligned with his interests, as opposed to the constant promotions and releases of the industry .
The Blue House invited Jeon to the 102nd anniversary of the Korean Declaration of Independence on March 1, 2021. The ceremony was held at Tapgol Park in Jongno District, Seoul, in the presence of South Korean President Moon Jae -in.
Along with descendants of foreign activists, she delivered a reading of the March 1 Declaration of Independence in Korean. The Blue House announced that it chose Jeon as its multicultural representative due to her popularity as an idol promoting Korean content worldwide.
