On National Coming Out Day, October 12, 2018, the Downhill co-director came out as gay. Every so often, he would post a photo of himself on Instagram along with a lengthy caption describing his coming out story six years ago.
In the caption, he suggests that the photos, taken six years ago, are from a period in his life when he “started to be more honest, freer and happier.” This explains why he accepted himself as gay six years before his post in 2012. He said it was the right time for him to share his story with everyone and that he didn’t regret “not s ‘be manifested earlier’.
