Jon Rahm, Spanish professional child golfer, Jon Rahm Rodriguez was born on November 10, 1994 in Barrika, Basque Country, Spain.

He competed for Spain as an amateur at various levels and was a member of the Spanish teams that won the European Amateur Team Championships in 2011 and 2014. He was the individual leader in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy.

He received a golf scholarship to Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications. There, he ranked second in school history with 11 victories in collegiate golf competitions, behind only Phil Mickelson’s 16 victories.

Rahm became the first golfer to receive the Ben Hogan Award twice when he won it in 2015 and 2016. He was also the most distinguished participant in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy. During his junior year, he competed in the 2015 Phoenix Open as an amateur and finished in fifth place, three shots behind the champion.

Rahm rose to the top of the world amateur golf rankings on April 1, 2015, becoming the 28th player to hold that position. After keeping him for 25 weeks, he gave him up, picked him up and kept him for another 35 weeks.

His total of 60 weeks at the top of the list is a record. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2015 US Open while also being ranked world No. 1.

As the top amateur golfer of 2015, he received the Mark H. McCormack Medal, which entitled him to the U.S. Open and Open Championship the following year.

Before finishing tied for third in the national finals, he finished his college career by winning the Pac-12 Conference title and an NCAA regional title.

He finished his final amateur tournament tied for 23rd place at 7 over par, making him the worst amateur at the 2016 US Open.

Jon Rahm’s career

Rahm’s exemption from the 2016 Open Championship was lost when he turned professional after the US Open. Rahm competed in his first professional competition the following week at the Quicken Loans National.

He finished tied for third, four strokes behind winner Billy Hurley III, after holding or sharing the lead through the first two rounds. Rahm’s performance was enough to return to the Open since the Quicken Loans National was part of the Open Qualification Series.

Rahm earned his first PGA Tour victory at the Farmers Insurance Open in late January 2017 with a 60-foot eagle putt on the final hole. With this victory, he improved his position in the Official World Golf Rankings from 137 to 46 and qualified for the Masters Tournament, The Players Championship, the PGA Championship and the World Golf Championships.

Rahm finished second to Dustin Johnson in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, his second WGC event.

Rahm finished 27th in his first Masters tournament. He then finished fourth at the Wells Fargo tournament and second at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational, performances which placed him in the top 10 in the world rankings.

Rahm won the final competition of the 2017 European Tour season, the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Because he was the first rookie in the Race to Dubai, he was named Rookie of the Year on the European circuit.

Rahm began the year with a second-place finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, eight shots behind winner Dustin Johnson.

During his short professional career, Rahm developed a reputation for having a wild character on the golf course. This was evident in the final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open when he slammed his racket to the ground.

Rahm won the Espaa Open on the European Tour in April 2018. Rahm fulfilled the requirements to join the European Ryder Cup team in September 2018.

Rahm and partner Ryan Palmer won the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans championship on April 28. Rahm placed third at the US Open on June 16, 2019 at Pebble Beach Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California.

Rahm triumphed at the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open at Lahinch Golf Club on July 7, 2019. Heading into the final 18 holes of the competition, Rahm was five shots behind 54-hole leader Robert Rock.

Rahm was ranked first in the Official World Golf Ranking on July 19, 2020 after winning the Memorial Tournament. He becomes the second Spaniard in history to occupy first place, after Seve Ballesteros.

Rahm began 2022 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Resort in Hawaii. He shot four rounds of 33 under par, including 61 in the third.

Rahm won the Mexican Open on May 1, recording his sixth PGA Tour triumph. At the BMW PGA Championship in September, he finished tied for second after shooting 62 in the final round, one shot behind Shane Lowry.

Rahm won the Sentry Tournament of Champions by two shots over Collin Morikawa after shooting a final-round 63 there in early 2023. He was able to overcome a six-shot deficit in the final round.

By winning the Genesis Invitational in February, Rahm regained the world rankings. Rahm had won five races in nine starts worldwide.
