In a family of four siblings, Judith Susan “Judy” Sheindlin is the second child. She was born in 1942 in New York State.

She resigned as a judge in 1996.
Her television career began in 1996 when she was offered a role on the reality television series Judge Judy Show. In 2017, the series began its 22nd season. The show attracts approximately 10 million viewers each day, making it the highest-rated show on daytime television.
