Will the writers’ and actors’ strike hamper La Brea’s third season?
Since the Writers Guild Association (WGA) has been on strike since May 1, all writers’ rooms for upcoming seasons with contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have been closed. And since July 13, the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), also known as the actors, has been on strike, meaning that the executives of these television programs cannot to work.
What does this mean for La Brea’s third season? The good news is that, according to Appelbaum’s interview with SYFY Wire in March, writing episodes for the new season had already begun. Variety reported that production will take place in Queensland, Australia, where filming is expected to begin shortly thereafter.
And in June, actress Zyra Gorecki confirmed on Instagram that filming on the third season of La Brea had ended by posting photos of actor Eoin Macken pouring champagne on her head.
The writers’ and actors’ strike did not directly affect the third season of La Brea, but it appears that NBC is delaying it so that the content will air in 2024. It is likely that the network expects a a number of its scripted shows are postponed. Due to the strikes, delaying the release of La Brea Season 3 until they actually need it seems to be their strategy.
