Lidia Giuliana Matticchio Bastianich is the full name of Lidia Bastianich. She is an Italian-born author, television presenter, celebrity chef and restaurateur. Bastianich, who specializes in Italian and Italian-American cuisine, has been a regular contributor to public television cooking shows since 1998.

Career of Lidia Bastianich
When Lidia and her husband Felice opened Buonavia Restaurant in Queens, she worked as a hostess before beginning her training as a kitchen assistant the following year.
They founded Secondo, a restaurant in Queens where Bastianich was known for his live cooking demonstrations.
When Lidia’s father died in 1981, the Bastianich family sold Buonavia and Secondo and bought a house in Manhattan that already housed a restaurant.
The new restaurant opened after $750,000 in renovations and earned Lidia several James Beard Foundation nominations for “Best Chef in New York.”
Lidia and Felice’s son Joe persuaded them to work with him in 1993 to build the Becco restaurant in the theater district.
Because the new restaurant was a success, the Bastianich family began opening locations in other states, starting in 1998 with Lidia’s Kansas City.
In the late 1990s, Joe became the catering company’s head sommelier. In 2010, Lidia, Joe and Oscar Farinetti founded the Italian boutique Eataly in Manhattan, with Bastianich teaching cooking and gastronomy seminars at La Scuola, Eataly’s school.
In addition to opening Eataly locations in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, they also opened a second location in Manhattan in 2016.
In 2010, Lidia collaborated with QVC to develop her own kitchenware collection, Lidia’s Kitchen, and she and Tanya founded Nonna Foods, a company that sells a variety of pastas and sauces.
Lidia appeared on an episode of Julia Child: Cooking With Master Chefs in 1993, and in 1998, public television aired her own show, Lidia’s Italian Table.
