Mark Normand and Mae Planert met. During his performance
Normand and Planert have been together since around 2015. During her guest appearance on the A Relationship Tale podcast, she shared the story of meeting Normand. When they agreed to go to Normand’s concert, Planert revealed that she had a date with another gentleman. After the meeting, she told her roommate that she was still thinking about Normand and was advised to contact the comedian.
How Mae Planert got into comedy
Planert wasn’t a comedian when the two started dating. His interest only manifested itself later. At first, she was afraid to openly express her interest because she feared that if she was successful, people would attribute her success to the fact that she had a famous comic boyfriend. Planert did not ask Normand for help and even hid his beginnings in comedy from him. In fact, he didn’t realize she was performing stand-up until they were both scheduled to perform at the same event six months later.
Meetings and comedy with Mae Planert and Mark Normand
Since Planert and Normand are both comedians, they rarely discuss humor with each other. She explained that since they were already doing comedy professionally, it was best to keep comedy outside of their relationship. This also helped Planert develop her own style, as she did not seek his opinion and was not heavily influenced by him in this regard.
For the same reason, she pointed out that even though they were both talking about the same incident, they expressed it in very different ways. Their decision to separate their acting profession from their relationship has served them well and they speak regularly on social media. It’s unclear if the two plan to get married, but they still seem to enjoy each other’s company.
