Mastaney, a film based on the history of the Sikh people, attracts many audiences who don’t usually go to the movies, and when that happens, the film’s plot could take a turn. An example of this is Chaar Sahibzade, which had a very slow start a few years ago but eventually became the highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time.
The possibility exists for something even greater, because even the beginning is exceptional in this case. A movie can take many different turns when things like this happen. Comedies and devotional films have always been among the biggest box office hits of the Punjabi film industry.
Carry On Jatta 3 was our most recent blockbuster comedy ever, grossing almost Rs 100 crore worldwide; it might surpass this film as the best comedy. A few years ago, Chaar Sahibzade was the highest-grossing film of all time, after a spectacular run.
Box office collections of Mastaney at Indian box office
Mastaney, a Punjabi film, collected over Rs. 9,999. 4.50 crores on Sunday to bring in the total of Rs. 1,000 for its first weekend. 11 crores, which brings another great performance. The film had a tremendous opening on Friday and then saw a good run on Saturday, which ensured its blockbuster triumph.
It is now much more reinforced by the Sunday increase. Whether we continue to add “All-Time” in front of this Blockbuster will mainly be determined by the weekday trend. Internationally, the film also got off to a very good start.
All opening records for Punjabi films in Australia and New Zealand were shattered. Moreover, Monday saw significant gains and in a few days will surpass Friday as the highest-grossing day in both markets. Following National Movie Day, when tickets cost just $4 each, the film lost $200,000 in North America on Sunday.
Even a market like Italy made over $50,000 in sales, the highest figure for an Indian film among the countries that provided figures. The film earned $1.70 million over its overseas weekends; however, with a wider release and without that Sunday loss in North America, it could have earned $2 million or more. The film is expected to set a new record for Punjabi films in terms of overall box office revenue. Cast
