Mattia Binotto, born November 3, 1969, is a Swiss-born Italian engineer and former team principal of Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1. He was appointed to the position on January 7, 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene.
Matt Binotto obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 1994 and then a master’s degree in automotive engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
In 1995, he joined the engine department of Scuderia Ferrari and was part of the team in the early 2000s. In 2013, he became head of the engine department before being appointed technical director (CTO) of Ferrari in July 2016, replacing James Allison.
