Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Michigan football team, invited Walker to meet the Michigan Wolverines on August 13, 2022 and attend the team’s practice after learning of Walker’s illness.

His whole body was in terrible pain and he smiled as if nothing had happened. As if he wasn’t even in pain.
On September 24, he was invited back to the stadium to watch Michigan play Maryland.
On the back of the custom-made Michigan jersey he wore was his nickname, Meechie. The AP announced his appearance as he was carried onto the field in a wheelchair.

Who was Meechie Walker?
. Walker grew up in Michigan and was a star defensive back at Muskegon High School.
He told ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski in October:

The way they behave is what I like about them.
But in November 2020, Meechie Walker discovered a bump in his knee which put an abrupt end to his dream. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
Despite nine months of treatment and surgery, the cancer returned in 2021. By April 2021, the tumor had grown so large that his left leg had to be amputated. Despite this, the cancer was still spreading throughout his body.
