Naturally generated structures bring a touch of exploration and a breath of fresh air to the otherwise boring Minecraft landscape. Here’s one such structure called Minecraft Shipwreck and we’re discussing everything there is to know about it!
Naturally generated structures can be found in all dimensions of Minecraft, including the overworld, end dimensions, and Nether biomes. The overworld has the greatest number of structures and these appear in almost every biome around the world, including under oceans and on beaches.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Minecraft wreck structure in the game.
Sinking Minecraft

Shipwrecks are naturally formed structures that are fragments of an ancient ship and are found in and around aquatic biomes.

Shipwrecks in Minecraft spawn near marine biomes, and in some cases they can also spawn on land near water sources. In very rare cases, they can appear next to marine monuments and underwater ruins.
Structures generated

The wrecks are made entirely of wooden planks, doors, fences and stairs. They look like a broken ship from ancient times that has sunk or washed ashore.
They have the mast, stern and bow with a large hull, in some cases they are completely intact. However, in most cases they are badly damaged and large parts are missing. They are made entirely of wood and can therefore be easily broken with an axe.
Each shipwreck has a chance of spawning three chests in three different locations on the ship. The chests and locations are:
- Supply Chests in the bow
- Treasure Chest in the star
- Map Chest in the area below
However, chests may be missing from some wrecks if the section is heavily damaged.
