Minecraft features a large number of hostile monsters that players can encounter as they roam the vast fields of the world. Today we’re going to take a look at Minecraft Vindicator and all of its features to help players always have the upper hand.
Minecraft Illagers are the evil counterpart of peaceful villagers and come in many varieties. In addition to normal looters, there are two particularly dangerous variants:
- defender
- Summoner
We take a look at the first one, Minecraft Vindicator, and take a look at all its features.
Minecraft Defender
The Vindicator is a marauder equipped with a vicious ax and is stronger than normal marauders.

Locations
Defenders appear in groups of 1-3 in the rooms of Woodland Mansion. However, in rare cases they can also appear in hallways.
You can also find them in Looter patrols but only at the “Hard” difficulty level.
They appear frequently in raids starting in wave 3. Defenders can also appear on a Ravager to form a Jockey.
Behave
They are hostile to players, iron golems, villagers, baby villagers, snow golems, and even wandering traders. They attack these monsters as soon as they see it, and will also attack other neutral monsters if they attack it first.
When they start to attack, they pull out an iron ax and deal the highest raw damage of any monster in the game, 19 health in a single hit. This is clearly a dangerous group, even for well-armored players. They even disable shields when attacking.
They are very aggressive and can even attack another raider if their arrow hits them. However, this only applies to the Bedrock edition.
Johnny’s Vindicator
This is a Minecraft Easter egg that turns a defender named Jhonny into an extremely hostile defender with a nameplate.
They attack any monster they see, except summoners, illusionists, marauders, ravagers, ghasts, and other defenders.

The Minecraft Vindicator drops the following items when killed by the player:

- 0-1 Emeralds
- 8.5% chance of dropping your ax or enchanted ax
Bedrock version only
- Enchanted books
- Iron Ax
- Iron shovel
- Iron Sword
- Iron pickaxe
- Monk’s team
- Iron breastplate
- Iron Leggings
- Iron Boots
