“My Happy Marriage” is a slow-burn romance manga about the life of Miyo Saimori. She is an abused girl who is forcibly sent to audition for a wealthy man who is the heir to one of Japan’s most powerful families during the Taisho period.
The Saimoris are a prominent family with a long history and a lineage of people with extraordinary abilities. Miyo Saimori was the eldest daughter of the family. Her parents’ marriage was arranged for political purposes.
It was a marriage meant to preserve this rare lineage. At that time, Miyo Saimori’s father had a lover. Unable to go against his family’s wishes, he left her and agreed to the marriage. Miyo Saimori was the result of a loveless marriage.
Miyo Saimori was genuinely adored at first, or so she was told. Although her memories are hazy, she remembers that her father was kind and that her mother loved her with all her heart.
Miyo Saimori’s mother passed away from an illness when she was young. Everything changed when her father remarried his former love. Miyo Saimori, the daughter of the lady who had separated her from her boyfriend, was hated by Miyo Saimori’s stepmother.
