In 2008, People magazine published an article claiming that Applegate had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy when she only had cancer in one breast and was later found to be cancer-free. She carries a genetic mutation called BRCA1 mutation, which increases the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. His mother also battled illness.

Applegate revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis several months earlier, in August 2021.

As a member of the band Party Liners, Priddy performed in musical revues at the Peninsula Players Theater near Fish Creek, Wisconsin, during the summers of 1961 and 1962.

She released the psychedelic folk album You’ve Come This Way Before in 1968, which was hailed as a minor classic by Billboard and as an eccentric singer-songwriter album that drew inspiration from both folk rock and psychedelia by an Allmusic reviewer.
