He began playing football at a young age for the Vineland Blitz in the Pop Warner Football League in Cumberland County, New Jersey.

At Vineland High School, Pacheco competed as a running back and quarterback. During his senior year, he contributed to the Fighting Clan’s victory over the rival Millville Senior High School Thunderbolts in the Thanksgiving Day Classic.

Syracuse, Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and other East Coast football programs actively recruited Pacheco. On June 21, 2017, he committed to Rutgers University.

Pacheco played regularly at the collegiate level in all four seasons. During his college years, he rushed for 2,442 yards (4.3 YPC) on 563 attempts and 18 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 47 balls for 249 yards and a score.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Pacheco in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 251st. Pacheco’s first NFL touchdown came in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals in his big league debut. It was a 3 meter run.

He made his first career start in the Chiefs’ game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. Pacheco ran for a career-high 107 yards in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Pacheco has the most scrimmage yards in a season for a rookie running back selected in the seventh round. He finished the regular season with 960 rushing yards (960 rushing yards plus 130 receiving yards), 5 rushing touchdowns, and 830 rushing yards.

He also gained 597 yards on 29 kickoff returns. Pacheco started at running back for the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII in his first professional season.
