Matthew Timothy Healy, parents of Matty Healy and an English singer and songwriter, was born on April 8, 1989, in Hendon, England.
At the age of nine he moved from Newcastle upon Tyne to Cheshire. Before being expelled from his private school for inciting fights, he attended Wilmslow High School, before dropping out with just three GCSEs.
In a November 2016 Guardian article, he said it was because he hadn’t put in as much effort, viewing school as an unnecessary burden that was hindering his career as a pop star.
He attended music school for three months before quitting, then worked in a Chinese restaurant. Matty had previously been an extra on his mother’s TV show, Waterloo Road; his brother Louis Healy is an actor best known for his role as Danny Harrington in Emmerdale.
In April 2023, Matty revealed to an audience in Brisbane that Welch’s godfather, Ian La Frenais, had modeled the “Flushed Away” rat Roddy St. James after Healy when he was fourteen.
