Robertson also had a conservative Christian ideology and was known for his previous activities in Republican Party politics.
In the 1960s, he founded the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and helped build it into a cable media empire.
For decades, Robertson hosted a talk show on CBN called “The 700 Club,” which combined religious news and political commentary with light entertainment.
His personal influence in the media has made him a recognized, influential and controversial public voice for conservative Christianity in the United States and around the world.
After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Robertson was criticized for associating American cultural liberalism, including the gay rights movement, and abortion with his cause.
In 2010, he claimed that Haiti’s devastating earthquake was because the Haitian people had made a “pact with the devil” during their struggle for independence from France.
After hosting CBN’s 700 Club for over six decades, Robertson announced his retirement at the age of 91 to mark his sixtieth birthday in October 2021.
In addition to the CBN, he was a founder of major organizations including Regent University, Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation.
Robertson also founded International Family Entertainment Inc. (ABC Family Channel/Freeform), the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), the Founders Inn and Conference Center, and the Christian Coalition.
Sadly, the conservative Christian station has died. Pat Robertson died at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the age of 93.
The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) announced Thursday, June 8, 2023, the disappearance of the popular religious channel, but did not give a reason.
However, in 2017, Robertson was hospitalized after suffering minor injuries in a fall while horse riding.
In 2018, he suffered a stroke and was later taken to the nearest stroke center. After regaining responsiveness, alertness and moving all of his limbs, he was released and recovered at home. He also accidentally broke three ribs in a fall in 2019.
