Post Malone’s parents, American rapper and singer Austin Richard Post, were born on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York.
He was raised by his father, Richard Post, and stepmother, Jodie. His father was a DJ and introduced Malone to many different genres of music, including hip-hop, country, and rock.
After Malone’s father was named concessions manager for the Dallas Cowboys, the family moved to Grapevine, Texas, when Malone was nine years old.
In 2010, Malone began learning guitar. He showed up for an audition with American band Crown the Empire, but was turned away when the strings on his instrument broke. He credits the video game “Guitar Hero” with sparking his initial interest in learning the guitar.
