End of episode 4 of season 3 of Rent-a-Girlfriend
Once the play is over, Mizuhara enthusiastically recounts every detail of the event. Umi only has to listen to him speak to realize that inviting him to the show was a smart decision. Mizuhara expresses sadness and sympathy that Umi’s partner, Nanao, was unable to attend the show because she was sick as they returned.
But it turns out that Umi didn’t tell Mizuhara the truth. He admits to having lied to her before telling her that he had broken up with her a week earlier, which is why she was unable to attend the performance. Umi, who is extremely interested in plays, is actually happy that he brought Mizuhara with him.
Mizuhara’s alarm goes off while he compliments her, and she realizes that she has to go to Shinjuku Station to hand out flyers for crowdfunding. She explains to Umi her responsibility and how hard everyone works to achieve their dreams. So she has to leave.
But Umi reveals that he actually reserved a table for them so they could have a meal. It turns out that he actually reserved a table for two at a prestigious restaurant and sincerely wants Mizuhara to join him. Eventually, Mizuhara declines his kind offer and returns to Shinjuku.
But before leaving, Umi confronts her about her love for Kazuya. Mizuhara simply responds incoherently stating that she neither recognizes nor denies loving her neighbor after being questioned repeatedly. However, it is clear from her words that she sincerely respects what Kazuya has done for her and considers him one of her closest confidants.
Kazuya is happy that Mizuhara has returned when they meet later to pass out the flyers. Kazuya is still worried that something happened between her and Umi. Mizuhara defends himself and says he shouldn’t think anything is wrong.
Shortly after, Kazuya checks the crowdfunding site again before turning to Mizuhara. He reveals that they raised 30,000 yen more than expected. They can now embark on their huge effort and concentrate, so to speak, on the production side.
