Rishi Sunak’s father, Yashvir Sunak, was born and raised in the Kenya Colony and Protectorate (present-day Kenya). He was a family doctor turned general practitioner, and his mother Usha Sunak, born in Tanganyika (later Kenya was part of Tanzania), was a pharmacist who runs her own pharmacy and is currently the manager and pharmacist of Sunak’s Pharmacy. He is the eldest of three brothers and sisters.

Rishi Sunak is married to the daughter of Bill Gates of India, Akshata Murty (the daughter of NR Narayana Murthy).
Akshata Murty is the CEO of her own clothing line, Akshata Designs, as well as a director of a venture capital firm founded by her father in 2010. She is listed on LinkedIn as a director of the gym chain Digme Fitness , menswear retailer New & Lingwood and private equity and private equity firm Catamaran Ventures.
