Robert McElhenney III, American actor, producer, writer, podcaster, and sports director, was born on April 14, 1977. He is best known for playing Ronald “Mac” McDonald in the comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX/FXX. from 2005 to the present.
Along with Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, McElhenney co-created the series and continues to serve as executive producer and writer. He is particularly known for playing Ian Grimm in the Apple TV+ comedy series Mythic Quest (2020–present), for which he also served as executive producer and co-created with Day and Megan Ganz.
McElhenney made headlines in September 2020 when he and Ryan Reynolds agreed to share ownership of Welsh football team Wrexham AFC. This effort was covered in the sports documentary series Welcome to Wrexham (2022-present) on FX, where McElhenney serves as executive producer.
