He developed a passion for golf at a young age and was introduced to the game by his biological father, Gerry McIlroy, who eventually became his coach.
Rory McIlroy had a successful amateur career and at the age of 17 (200&) he led the world amateur golf rankings for a week. He turned professional later that year and quickly established himself on the European Tour.
He achieved his first victory on the European Tour in 2009 and on the PGA Tour in 2010. At the age of 22 (2011), Rory became the youngest player to reach 10 million in career on the tour European.
