Is there a release date for Secret Invasion season 2?

No, there are no plans for a second season of Secret Invasion after its conclusion on July 26, 2023. However, if the viewership of season 1 is high, things could change after the finale.

The Marvel Secret Invasion miniseries has been announced for Disney Plus. So it is very likely that we will not get a second season. However, the conflict with the Skrulls is not yet fully resolved, as thousands of them still circulate among humans. G’iah plans to capture them with the help of Sonya Falsworth.

Nick Fury also discussed talks of a peace summit between the Kree and Skrulls to end their conflict. So the Skrulls might be able to move to a new planet after all. But before that, there are two methods to approach the future:

1) G’iah continues to command the war between humans and Skrulls in the second season of Secret Invasion.

2) Marvel uses the Marvels to effectively sign a peace treaty between the Kree and Skrulls and to end the human-Skrull conflict behind the scenes by bringing the Kree and Skrulls to an agreement.

The Secret Invasion premise could also be continued in other upcoming MCU titles. G’iah-like figures could command them from the front. Marvels and other future Disney Plus initiatives could serve as sequels to Secret Invasion, in the same way that Agatha: Coven of Chaos will serve as a sequel to WandaVision.

Once we get official details, ComingSoon will provide an update to this story.

Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury, Emilia Clarke plays G’iah, Ben Mendelsohn plays Talos, Cobie Smulders plays Maria Hill, Olivia Colman plays Special Agent Sonya, Don Cheadle plays James Rhodes, aka War Machine, Dermot Mulroney plays the President Ritson, Kingsley Ben-Adir plays the evil Skrull leader Gravic, and Martin Freeman plays Everett K. Ross in Secret Invasion.

Secret Invasion season 2 cast: who could return?

Although the MCU is known for killing off major characters, Secret Invasion was not Nick Fury’s final appearance, as we already knew from The Marvels’ marketing before Secret Invasion’s release. Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos and Cobie Smulders’ Agent Maria Hill have been irrevocably eliminated from the MCU. Gravik, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, also appears to perish, although it is unclear how this was possible given his abilities.

Therefore, the entire Secret Invasion season 2 could include the following characters:

  • G’iah by Emilia Clarke
  • Sonya Falsworth—Olivia Colman
  • Harrison Ford is President Ross, succeeding Dermot Mulroney as President Ritson.

It’s also possible that Agent Ross (Martin Freeman) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) will return to investigate how and when they were supplanted by the Skrulls. Rhodey asks Armor Wars to investigate these repercussions, but Agent Ross’ MCU future is uncertain. It is absurd to believe that the MCU would simply ignore the narrative one way or another. If only One Shots were still available to fill those spaces. Or related comics. Or literally anything that wasn’t a $200 million series and didn’t validate its existence.

Ironically, Nick Fury’s return in Secret Invasion season 2 might not be necessary if it happens. The majority of the Skrull saga has moved away from him, leaving only the question of whether he will be held responsible for the Avengers DNA project, as it is unlikely that the heroes involved will be thrilled to discover that he stole their DNA. However, Fury is elastic and nothing seems to stick, so maybe the MCU will just continue in silence.
