Sheryl Crow was born on February 11, 1962, in Kennett, Missouri, United States of America. She was born to lawyer and trumpeter Wendell Wyatt Crow and his mother Bernice, who was a piano teacher.
She has the same parents as her two older sisters Kathy and Karen and her younger brother Steven. Crow was a cheerleader and all-state track athlete while attending Kennett High School, winning a medal in the 75-meter hurdles. She also joined the National Honor Society, National FFA Organization and Pep Club. During her senior year, she won the title “Paperdoll Queen” in a celebrity-judged competition.

She then enrolled at the University of Missouri at Columbia, where she received her bachelor’s degree in music education in 1984. While studying, she played in the local band Cashmere.
