As the Miami-Herald reported, Demarcus Cook, 18, exchanged gunfire Tuesday with a man in a car outside a home near Northwest Sixth Street and 31st Avenue. When police arrived on scene, they took the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where medics attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate the man. Thanks to witnesses and video surveillance cameras located near the crime scene, the police were able to reconstruct the entire altercation.
Tateanna Price, mother of Davin Cook, spoke with Miami Herald and confirmed that his son and Cook’s half-brother were seriously injured in the shooting. She also added that her daughter was also injured in the incident. However, Cook’s injuries were reportedly so minor that he could be questioned at police headquarters.
Cook was formally charged with first-degree murder and robbery and incarcerated at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility in West Miami-Dade. Not too long ago, three years ago to be exact, Demarcus, aged just 14, was the victim of a drive-by shooting, during which he was shot in the chest.
