Stephen Curry Children: Meet Riley Elizabeth Curry, Ryan Carson Curry and Canon Jack Curry – Stephen Curry is the son of Sonya and Dell Curry. He was born at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio, to parents who were Cleveland Cavaliers players.
His father played most of his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets while growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Curry and his younger brother regularly warmed up with the Hornets at Dell’s games. Dell’s family briefly moved to Toronto, where he played for the Raptors until the end of his career.
Stephen Curry received praise from head coach Bob McKillop at a Davidson alumni reunion before he even took the field for the Wildcats in a game. Curry played his first college game against Eastern Michigan and finished the game with 15 points but also 13 turnovers.
Stephen Curry was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft in June of that year. During the 2009–10 season, he played in 80 games and averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.90 steals in 36.2 minutes.
Thanks to a good second half of the season, he enters the race for the title of “Rookie of the Year”. He was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month in January, March and April, becoming the only conference rookie to do so three times.
He was unanimously selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team, but finished second to Tyreke Evans for the NBA Rookie of the Year award, becoming the first member of the Warriors since Jason Richardson in 2001–02 to achieve this .
