American Sherri Papini, 39, was born in Redding, California in 1982. Because she faked her own kidnapping, she is currently trending on the Internet. She was arrested on March 3, 2022 on suspicion of making a false statement to a federal police employee on November 2, 2016 and of committing mail fraud.

In 2007, Sherri Papini’s marriage to David Dreyfus ended. She then married Keith Papini in 2009 and the couple have two children.

Sherri Papini, a 39-year-old mother of two, finally admits it was all a lie after more than five years of claiming she was kidnapped by “two Hispanic ladies” while she was jogging in his isolated neighborhood of Redding, California. ยป

According to her attorney, William Portanova, Papini, who was arrested by federal agents on March 3, accepted a plea deal in which she agreed to plead guilty to charges of lying to a federal agent and mail fraud.

In a statement released by Portanova, Papini said: “I am deeply ashamed of my actions and I am truly sorry for the pain I have caused to my family, to my friends, to all the good people who suffered needlessly because of my story, and therefore about who fought so hard to try to help me “I’m going to spend the rest of my life trying to make up for what I did.”

The beginning of Papini’s story took place on November 2, 2016, when she claimed she was jogging and was kidnapped by the two armed, masked Hispanic women. She claimed they tortured her, forced her and locked her in a room.

On Thanksgiving Day, 22 days later, she was found lost in a parking lot. Her family, which included her two young children, welcomed her back, and Redding residents who had been searching for her for days mostly rallied to support her.

However, the Justice Department determined that Papini fabricated the incident after investigating his alleged kidnapping.

Justice Department authorities said in a news release after her arrest that Papini actually intentionally stayed with a former boyfriend in Costa Mesa and injured herself to support her lies.

According to the release, therapy sessions and an ambulance ride related to Papini’s alleged kidnapping cost the California Victim’s Compensation Board more than $30,000.

Shasta County Sheriff Michael L. Johnson said in the news release that the 22-day search for Sherri Papini and the subsequent five-year investigation into the person suspected of kidnapping her brought to light strained public resources and left the public concerned for their safety. which they should not have done.
