Legendary gymnast Olga Korbut, who competed for the Soviet Union, had carved out a niche for herself in the sport during her playing years. She was full of incredible talents and skills, which she demonstrated time and time again, most notably at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, a video of her performing the infamous “Dead Loop”, also known as Korbut Flip, took the internet by storm and was shared by Twitter user @rogueprocess_. Soon, the video spread like wildfire on the Internet and many netizens even started talking about it.

For those who don’t know, the “Dead Loop” or Korbut Flip was banned because it was high risk, as reported by the NY Daily News. The exercise was performed by standing on a horizontal bar, performing a backflip, and grabbing the bar again.
Korbut, who represented the former Soviet Union at the 1972 Munich Games, was the first and last to pull off the stunt. The Belarusian-born gymnast was a star at the event, where her high-level acrobatics and open gymnastics earned her much fame and admiration.

The 66-year-old is currently retired and living a healthy lifestyle in Scottsdale, Arizona. She sold the medals she won at an auction in 2017.
